54 Men Accepted Christ

God touched my heart in a very special way and I have been enlarged
as a result. I will never be the same.
- Chrisie Goyette from Living Waters World Outreach in Fernandina Beach, FL

All the teaching (message) of ladies were so powerful and simple to understand and very much practical to the life, so it is understood by most of the participants and they have been blessed. - Pastor K B Basel

Many women are challenged and encouraged to be preachers and teachers of the Word of God by seeing the women preachers….this is the first time they have seen women preachers except Sushila of Nepalgunj. - Pastor K B Basel after the ladies meetings in Nepal.

I loved my trip to Nepal and have been so touched by it. I would love to take a team of people from our church next year that could help teach skills to the group of people that were ex-slaves. - Cathy Ciaramitaro from Windsor Christian Fellowship in Canada

Women's Ministry Launched

I’ve been in a whirlwind of activity and excitement since the Lord called me to start the compassion ministry arm of ChurchAsia, our church-planting ministry.  We just concluded our first trip to Nepal with a group of Pastors’ wives from the U S and Canada, and it was a huge success!  It was a blessing to be able to share with friends what the Lord is doing there.  It’s something I’ve had in my heart to do for several years.  I love being part of history!!

We held a ladies’ meeting in the Bhaktapur church and had about 150 precious women in a very small room.  Later that evening, we visited the Children’s Home in Bhaktapur where our children treated us by performing  Nepali Folk Dances set to Christian music as we sat around a bonfire. They then served us a wonderful meal that their parents, David and Sony, prepared for us.  They even talked us into trying our hands (and feet) at the folk dancing.  Needless to say, we need a lot more practice, not to mention rhythm.  But we had a great time laughing with the kids, and they had a better time laughing at us!

Huge Crowds

We held two major ladies’ meetings that totaled over 5,000 in attendance. The first of those meetings was in Nepalgunj on the compound of K B Basel and his wife Sushilla.  We had 3,500 people under a brightly colored tent.  The tent proved to be too small but the people didn’t seem to mind.  At that meeting, which consisted of a group of churches from the surrounding villages, we had 27 MEN to respond to the gospel and 17 women.  It was amazing!

The second meeting was held the next day in Dang, where we have a village church plant.  We traveled for four hours in three jeeps to get there.  Pastor K B’s churches from the surrounding villages and districts came in numerous buses.  We had almost 2,000 in attendance and again there were 27 MEN who responded to the gospel along with 17 women.  I was surprised at the number of men getting saved in a ladies’ meeting, so I asked Pastor K B about it.  His reply was “When they understand the message, they accept the Lord”.  A total of 54 men and 33 ladies came to the Lord for the first time.

Compassion

The next day we went to two outlying villages where Sushilla has been reaching out to group of people known as “bound-slaves”.  These people have been the lowest of the low caste for hundreds of years and they’ve always been slaves, uneducated, and neglected. Nine years ago the Nepali Government freed them but didn’t give them any land or teach them how to support themselves.  Sushilla and her team have been going weekly, teaching them basic hygiene, how to handle money, and how to live in a world they really knew nothing about.  They provide water wells for the village after they have spent time teaching and presenting the Gospel to them.   It was a life changing experience for me and for the ladies in the group.  Thank you ladies for your ministry and for loving our people.

None of this would have happened without our ministry partners and I’m so grateful to the Lord for you.

Merry Christmas! - Bev
