West Nepal

May 2011

Rick and I started our children’s home in 2003 with a dream of one day building a compound where we could care for 120 children.  We now care for 30 abandoned Nepali children in rented facilities.  Fifteen of those children are blind or severely handicapped.  In 2010 a Swiss pastor gave us $75,000 and challenged our faith to begin our dream.  We added $35,000 to that financial challenge and purchased eight acres of property in West Nepal.  The dream is becoming a reality as we develop this empty rice field into a village of hope for castaway lives.

The Children’s Village will not be another institutionalized dormitory-style facility.  It will be a place where abandoned, neglected children can thrive within a family atmosphere …a place designed to care for the emotional and psychological needs of children as well as their basic physical needs ... a place where they can grow up as brothers and sisters with a mother who will always be there for them … place where they are afforded an excellent education and taught a trade that will prepare them for adulthood.

I am very excited as Shane, Pastor K B Basil, and I will be meeting a group of engineers from the U S, Canada and other parts of the world in Nepalgunj, Nepal, this June.  Pray for us as we work together to develop a master-plan for the layout of the property.  I will give a report later in the summer on what we accomplished there.  Thanks for standing with us to help the helpless.
