children - September 2011

There the Child grew up healthy and strong.  He was filled with wisdom, and God’s favor was on him.  Luke 2:40

I know this verse refers to the Lord, but if He needed a nurturing place to grow and thrive, how much more do the children of today need such a place!  We have dreamed of a children’s village since 2007 when the Lord planted a seed in our hearts to take in more of Nepal’s forgotten children.

In June of this year, Shane and I spent eight days in Nepal with a group of international engineers and architects planning the development of eight acres we bought in Nepalgunj, Nepal.  We have just received the report detailing the plans for the Sophia Children’s Village!  Sophia is the Greek word for wisdom.  Pastor K B Basel and his wife Sushilla of Nepalgunj, Nepal, established Sophia English School in April 2004.  K B and Sushila will be the overseers of the children’s village, as well as a branch of the school on the property, so we felt it was appropriate to keep the same name.

When I saw the dream on paper, it was confirmed more clearly in my heart and spirit that the children of Nepal will be nurtured and have opportunities that were not available to them before.  It’s the least we can do for the least of these.  Thank you for standing in prayer with us as we see the dream move actively forward.
